Abstract
Digital dentistry is playing an increasingly important role within dental undergraduate education as digital technologies become more widely used in clinical practice. UK dental students are now routinely exposed to digital workflows that support diagnosis, treatment planning and restorative care, including intraoral scanning, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM), and three-dimensional (3D) printing technologies. These developments reflect wider changes within the profession, where digital approaches are increasingly used to enhance efficiency, accuracy and the patient experience. Recent research has highlighted the growing integration of digital dentistry within UK undergraduate programmes and the importance of preparing graduates to work confidently in technology-enabled clinical environments.1 This aligns with the General Dental Council's ‘Safe Practitioner' framework,2 which emphasises the need for graduates to be equipped with the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required for safe practice in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.
