Abstract
This study explored the planning and creative methods employed by world-class explorers, focusing on how they prepare for extreme challenges. A sample of 11 polar explorers participated in in-depth interviews, providing insights into their decision-making processes, risk assessment, and adaptive strategies. Thematic analysis revealed common themes in their planning, emphasizing the integration of creativity, multi-sensory imagery, and collaborative problem-solving. Based on these findings, a role-play framework was developed to enhance complex planning through experiential learning. This framework includes roles representing environmental risks, communication support, medical assistance, and psychological well-being, highlighting the importance of creative thinking and imagery in high-pressure expedition scenarios.
