Abstract
© Hippocampus Verlag 2019 The academization of physiotherapy education in the United Kingdom has steadily evolved since validation of the first degree programme in 1976. This commentary provides a synopsis of the impact of this transition from a vocational qualification to an academic degree which places a heavy emphasis on critical thinking and evidence based practice. It reflects on how this is demonstrating to be an important driver for shaping the future of physiotherapy practice.
