dc.description.abstract

The survivability of a 1: 20 scale point-absorbing wave energy converter model is considered in extreme wave tests with focused waves embedded in regular wave backgrounds, as well as with timeseries of irregular waves. Three different float geometries have been used in the tests. Peak loads are measured and compared for extreme waves embedded in background waves with a range of periods and phase relations and different values of power-take off damping.
