Abstract
This research paper assesses the level of awarenessof green leases in England and establishes the rangeof current attitudes of various property professionstowards adoption of the green clauses in commer-cial leases. The current willingness for landlordsand tenants to adopt a green lease is scattered andnot aligned with government initiatives to achievenet zero. Best practice recommendations are neededto ensure both landlords and tenants understandwhat arrangements best fit their circumstances. Forthe impact of green clauses to be maximised and,where appropriate, implemented, they need to becommunicated in terms to which both parties arehappy to commit.
