dc.description.abstract

Previous work on the production of dipyrrolo and imidazopyrrolo - pyridine systems has been reviewed. Methods for the preparation of 2,4-diaminopyridines have been reviewed and attempted. The resulting diamines have been subjected t o t he Bischler reaction to produce a new dipyrrolopyridine system and new derivative s of known systems. The application of the Bischler reaction to all the possible diaminopyridines has been attempted. This produced a number of new derivative s and ring systems. Some information of the factor s influencing the effectiveness of the Bischler reaction on the pyridine system have been obtained.
