Achieving recognition at D3 is an undoubtedly a significant achievement, but it does not necessarily herald the end of CPD for the individual. Continuing professional development is integral to the UKPSF and underpins the recognition frameworks of the HEA and SEDA. Therefore for many working at this level gaining recognition can stimulate a new period of professional development, as the process of retrospectively reflecting on practice provides an excellent opportunity to consolidate and benchmark for future development plans. From this perspective CPD is not about engaging with development activities to maintain ‘good standing’ for regulatory purposes (HEA Code of Practice, 2013) but being a critically reflective educator; aware of and responsive to the wider HE landscape.
