Cauliflower is described as a recalcitrant plant to the genetic transformation process from Agrobacterium. Cauliflower curd meristems can be used to produce shoots to clone the mother plants in in-vitro culture. Micro propagation techniques were used in this study at different stages to produce cauliflower explants. The healthy growing explants were transformed with the APX gene using a standard transfection protocol mediated by Agrobacterium. The plants that successfully grew under abiotic stress and presenting a normal plant phenotypic feature were considered transformants. The transfection conditions were optimised during this study and 105Agrobacterium cell/5 plants/pot successfully produced 1 transformed plant/pot.
